Ilam to Eyam Sponsored Walk
After three days of walking, Annie and Jenni completed the Peak Pilgrimage, a 39 mile route (plus detours) from the idyllic village of Ilam in North Staffordshire to the village of Eyam in the middle of the Peak District. Eyam is becoming a centre of pilgrimage due to their sacrificial decision to isolate themselves from surrounding villages during the plague. Sadly, one third of the population died but the self imposed quarantine is believed to have saved countless lives and protected nearby villages from infection. Annie and Jenni undertook the challenge to start the process of raising money to match fund a new events co-ordinator and we would like to thank everyone who has sponsored them and contributed towards this new role. We have been blown away by raising almost £1000 already! If you would still like to give please use the button below to donate, pop into the office or drop us an email to receive our bank details. When we reach £5000 it will be matched to double our total!
